Jerry was phenomenal. He’s not the company to chase you for business, rather gives you all the information you need ( or that you ask for). His crew was very polite and professional and was honest about what I should or should not replace when they tore off the old shingles. Roof came out great. The final invoice was the exact price Jerry and I agreed to before the job started. I’m in Tinley Park, so don’t let the location (for southwest suburb folks reading this) scare you away. A portion of my roof was leaking because it had been previously done with shingles but due to pitch, required a flat roof solution.
After researching 6 local contractors, I chose RK Roofing to fix it properly. Jerry's quote was competitive, he provided a lot of detail so I was comfortable I knew what would be done, and his communication leading up to, during and after the project was top notch. The roof installed looks fine. The 2 roofers that came and installed it were extremely professional and respectful. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the owner, Jerry.
He sent me a revised quote with a discount when I hadn't originally booked with them which I accepted. I made a $500 deposit payment with a credit card and was only charged $500.
Once the work was completed I went to use the same card for payment and was told he would be charging me a 4% merchant processing fee. I said I didn't think that was fair since he didn't charge me 4% when I paid the deposit and wasn't notified there would be a charge if I use the same form of payment. He was rude and dismissive saying he was now giving me prior notice. No, that's not prior notice.
If he'd simply been professional and followed what Illinois Law requires (giving clear notice of a merchant processing fee prior to a sale) this would have been a much different review.
As reply to your response: No, I was NOT notified prior, nor is it posted anywhere on your contract or website. That statement is completely untrue.

I would highly recommend RK Roofing. The team is phenomenal. They're incredibly hard workers. Our job had multiple nuances that they carefully and expertly took care of. Additionally they corrected issues that we were not aware of. It was our second time that RK Roofing installed a roof for us and we couldn't be happier.
RK Roofing was amazing. They gave us a fair quote on a few different items we needed to be fixed and replaced. There’s always some unknowns when taking off the roof and figuring out how much plywood needs to be replaced, it ended up being less than anticipated which was a cost savings. They included a service to make sure everything was in top notch shape even on parts of the roof and gutters that they did not work on. While they were working one of the workers showed me some issues that needed some touch fixing, he then fixed them and was able to show me the difference. Clearly they’re a hard working company and very honest and proud of the work that they do. I’d recommend them to anyone who needs repairs or replacements on their roofs.

R.K. Roofing replaced our roof, gutters & downspouts, and also installed our gutter guards. They did an excellent job! Owner, Jerry, was communicative throughout the process. Their roof & gutter technicians were incredibly nice and worked efficiently. We appreciated that they maintained a clean work site - and minimized disruptions. They were even able to navigate around intermittent spring rains in a way that kept our project moving quickly through to completion.
